Volunteer Headquarters,
Hongkong, May 23r1., 1903,
I beg to forward berewith correspondence relating to "E" Company, Bongbong Volunteer Corps, which was banded over to me by Nia Sxeelloney the Generał Officer Dameneti ný.
1. The waste in "3" Company has not been in excess of that in other units of the Corps. The falling off in recruiting during the past year was due chiefly to the cessation of hostilities in N, China, but I hope this year that the numbers may be again increased and one great inlucement would the new fealquarters as mentional by Major Baker Brown R.3., they have been in the estimates for some years and are badly wanted in many ways, the liscipline of the Corps can never be up to the proper standard until separate messes and a canteen are providel for Officers, Coixers, and bin as allowed for in the plant of the new building. I should be very glad if the Public Torks Department couli see their way to soon put
this work in hand.
3. Number of Drills required for afficiency.
With regard to the aumber of drills I should be glal if Major Baker Brown's suggestion could be carried out, namely that the number of drills for efficiency for "E" Company should be
altered to:-
Technical Drills. Company Drill .. 83..
Total.
Recruits.
13
Trained Men.

An Orler in Council of the Local Government would be required to make this alteration.
3. Numbers.
The strength of "" Company at the present time is
3 fficers and 19 Jae-Commissienet Officers and Men but of this number 1 Officer has left the Colony and is not likely to return, and
